Imagine working 40 hours a week, every week, and still not being able to feed your family, pay your rent or seek medical treatment when you need it.

For many Americans, no imagination is needed. This is their reality.

I am not a millionaire. I don’t live in a fancy house. Like you, I work hard for every cent I earn. To survive, I have cut grass, fried chicken at a gas station and have done various other jobs in order to support my family.

I believe in the fight for fair wages. It is senseless and unfair that anyone working full time should need public assistance. Ours is the land of opportunity. A full time job should raise you out of poverty, not trap you in it. We must raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
